Georgie’s Birthday, A 4th Birthday Guide
I can hardly believe Georgia is going to be four next week!? Where does the time go? I think because we’ve always had another baby when the older one has turned four and Georgia is probably (no make that highly likely given her antics 🤪) to be our last baby is feels extra bittersweet!
But being our third child, and second daughter, it also means we have just about everything imaginable - and a lot of it! So what do you get a soon to be four year old girl for her birthday?
I popped together a little post of a few things we’ve got on her list this year in case you too are struggling!
This beautiful canopy from Numero 74 at Molly Meg... now some things pain me to buy twice - and we already have one of these!! But as Eva has one on her bed I know the quality and since the girls have started sharing a room it’s all Georgia has talked about! So we thought she was old enough now (and hopefully over the incredibly destructive stage of drawing on walls and taking things apart!) so this may be a big gift. Complete with twinkly lights and the two girls will be giggling til dawn!
Dressing up magic... some children adore dressing up, my girls are definitely two of those. And let me tell you, Fable Heart brings the magic! We already have the tutu, the wings, crowns and a wand… Georgia would love this sparkly wand as a little extra birthday sparkles. Now I know some of you may gasp at the prices here, but I have two points to consider 1) you get what you pay for! We have over half a dozen pieces of Fable Heart and they wear and wear and wear and don’t loose their sparkle or magic, they are beautifully well made here by a mum of four and her small team. Buy some cheap, crappy dressing up from Amazon and it will be in the bin within a handful of uses! And 2) Cost per wear/use. I use this logic when thinking about spends on clothes and shoes, I think toys and dressing up should be the same. If she is going to wear this 5/7 days over the next year than is down to pence! I’m def happy with that!
Also Meri Meri costumes this year are unbelievable - Like my kids would fall in love with literally EVERY single one! The colour and imagination behind them all is so playful. This swan is something else, she loves a bit of tulle so these ruffles (!!!) Georgia would adore this mermaid one too! Oooh and check out the rainbow fairy and the green dragon... EVERY. SINGLE. ONE!
I like to gift the kids something they can wear on the day, and this dress from new shop Pluunge is sooo Georgia! It’s super soft and will look ridiculously cute with sandals and tanned limbs - I think she’ll want to wear this all day on her birthday!
Adding to the party... I love gifts that you can keep adding to over the years. Charlie got a brio set when he was younger and for the next few birthdays and Christmases he would get new trains and addition tracks to go with it. I always loved that. Two Christmases ago the girls got this beautiful Plan Toys Dolls House, which I bought second hand and since then we’ve been slowly adding to our Maileg mice collection, who have made themselves at home here. Georgia loves putting them to bed so I’m thinking this super sweet bed from Sister’s Guild and maybe this adorable pram too!
When I was pregnant with Georgia I wanted to get something special for Eva to help her feel involved. I found this beautiful cot and hunted long and hard for some perfect bedding for it - but found nothing. So I approached Coco&Wolf to create a set for me, measured every mattress and corner of the cot and the rest is history! Now it’s Georgia who plays with this more and I thought she would like a new set of bedding to herself. I adore this classic set which would look beautiful in their room.
I never ever thought I would have a girly girl - but low and behold I have two! One of the things they love is accessorising their room and these name signs from Little Cloud kids add a beautiful touch. After listing after them for some time, I finally bought them last month but unfortunately Georgia had her way with one before we even got them up! I can’t tell you how upset I was, then the lovely Claire has messaged to say she is able reshape it and it will go (high!!) up on the wall for her birthday.
Pyjamas - actually I could write a whole post on them. I buy a few good quality pairs for the children that wash and wear well for years, they tend to get a special pair for birthdays and Christmas and I could recommend dozens... But for Georgia’s birthday this beautiful number from Faune is first choice.
The little details...
Temporary tattoos from Meri Meri I love taping a pack to the outside of a present.
Arts and crafts sets from Djeco.
Hair bows and accessories.
How cute are these from Ditsy Dot?!
Or Wunderkin who did a collab with our fave dress designer Nellie Quats this spring!
Books. While I was in the US last week I stomped around a few book shops and found one shop to be celebrating all female authors! Perfect for this strong willed little woman we’re raising. I liked ‘Bad Girls Throughout History’ and ‘She Persisted’ amongst others. Cissy Wears has a fabulous selection of unique titles which is always worth checking, this one looks adorable and I’m about to order.
Party pieces. Whether it’s just family at home or a whole host of friends round I love a theme! Party plates, hats, napkins and all the candles, it just makes it extra special for them. Of course you know I’m going to recommend Meri Meri here. (G’s thinking rainbows and hearts.) There hadn’t been a party in the last 5 years where we haven’t used something from their collection. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Balloons. Georgia has asked for a big party this year as she’s never had one with friends... third child syndrome maybe?! But actually when we got talking about what a ‘big party’ is it comes down to balloons. Just balloons. Lots of balloons. Rainbow balloon. Unicorn balloon. Pink balloons. You get the gist? So there will be a large selection of balloons including a 4 I’ve been instructed, because she’s ‘going to be FOUR don’t you know?’ !!
I have been gifted the dress mentioned in this post by Pluunge. I have also previously worked with some of the brands featured here in this post. However I ONLY recommend brands or products I have previously spent my own money with and truly believe in.
