Like Father, Like Son. Boys Summer Edit with Melijoe / AD
When Melijoe asked me to curate a Boy’s Summer Edit… I was pretty excited. Melijoe is a retailer I have shopped with (and recomended to you all!) for years before, so as for authentic collaborations, this my friends certainly is one!
Their sale has just started and so we’ve picked a selection full of all you’ll need for those boys this summer with most pieces transitioning into A/W perfectly too!
And when I say ‘we’ I do mean we, Charlie is at what I think is a slightly difficult/awkward age for clothing. At 9 1/2, he’s old enough to know his own mind and make decisions - so arriving home with clothes he has no interest in, is a long gone happening. He also is no longer a willing participant in my penchant for dressing him in coordinating fashions with his sisters and little cousins. Preferring now to take his style ques from his Father and Cool Uncle Michael.
I really don’t think you can go wrong with a perfectly cut, classic shirt and one of Charlie’s dad’s favourite brands is uber cool British brand, Hackett. Melijoe has the best range of their junior collection and this classic white shirt is an absolute steal on their website. A no-regret sale buy, add to cart NOW!
These sunglasses were a new find for me, I’ve not heard of Izipizi before - but am really pleased. This style is great and he’ll wear them all summer. (For reference the website states they’re suitable for ages 3-9, Charlie at 9 1/2 is average in size and this size suits him just fine)
A reality of life in the U.K. for me has definitely been 12 months a year of wellies!! Between British beach days, muddy dog walks and general rainy weather ours get plenty of wear. With three children I feel rather well equipped to wholeheartedly recommend Aigle wellies. I have bought more than 20 pairs of Hunter wellies, and while they are lovely and I will no doubt buy more at some stage in the future, Aigle are what have been keeping my broods’s feet happy of late. Georgia loves these adorable ones, available in a rainbow array of options, while Charlie prefers the more mature and sturdy ones.
These salmon coloured Cyrillus shorts have been on repeat since they arrived. Not too baggy and not too fitted to be restrictive, this style in this gorgeous slightly faded feel will get plenty of wear this summer.
While he may pick certain styles from those influential men in his life, Charlie has picked up his Francophile tendencies from me! I am a total sucker for a Breton stripe. This Carremént Beau jumper is the perfect weight for summer, on its own with shorts and these Bensimon plimsoles (some colours are in the sale too!) for city days or over a smart shirt with chinos for a smarter day.
Melijoe is an online retailer dreams are made of, their U.K. delivery is not only good value but FAST. Couple that with the best brands for boys and girls from newborn to 16, I dare you to NOT find what you’re looking for at Melijoe.
Brands to seek out at Melijoe:
Petit Bateau. This classic French brand is an absolute institution. Melijoe serves up the best selection and offers far better delivery options than ordering direct. Look for… their classic oilcloth waterproof coats, polos, zip up hoodies, pajamas and underwear. (Seriously the softest underwear around!)
Aigle. This is not a new brand in the slightest, established in 1853 they have recently surged in popularity due to their fun colourful designs and hardwearing durable performance. Look for… their sorbet coloured boots are a great price and so cute!
Havianas. I needn’t explain this one. THE flip flop.
Cyrillus. Yep you guessed it - another French brand. What can I say, Parisian-based Melijoe has nailed their brand selection so all you have to do is click! Runs a little small imo. Look for… perfect Breton stipes, chino shorts and fabulous smart/occasionwear for up to age 14 complimented with their cute distinctive squirrel.
Bensimon. The original French plimsol. Unbelievably versatile, jeans, shorts, hoodies or shirts these canvas classics suit it all. Look for… their classic slip ons in navy, red and mustard for the whole family.
Carremént Beau. I discovered this brand in Paris a few years ago and have been addicte since! While I don’t like everything they do, I think they’ve nailed big boys. Melijoe stocks up to age 12 - difficult to find elsewhere. Look for… more classic Breton stripes and pops of fresh colours.
Hackett. Eccentrically British Boyswear. My husband swears by their mole skins and lightweight shirts, which are great if you have a child (or adult!) who runs ‘hot’. Look for… preppy Ralph Lauren styles with a quirkier punch, polos, shirts and funky American Collegiate style sweaters.
Moncler. Eye wateringly expensive but absolutely lush! Such an instantly recognisable brand Charlie adores. (A couple statement pieces mixed in with other brands is a great way to wear it) Melijoe stocks such a good range of styles and sizes, if this is your cup of tea you’ll find it here. Look for… their quality winter coats, baseball caps with logo and long sleeve rugby tops.
Did you know you can create a wish list on Melijoe? Here’s a few bits sat in mine right now, some sale bargains and others excited about autumn… too soon!?
